Fantastic piece of music - lovely Scottish lament

Si tratta di un inno particolare, scritto in 6/8, adatto a una marcia molto lenta, difficile da cantare per chi non abbia dimestichezza con questo tempo. Gli Scozzesi, però, lo cantano con un trasporto straordinario e non ricordo di aver mai sentito una stonatura o un inciampo nell'esecuzione di un intero stadio di Rugby; cosa che succede, invece a tutti, persino agli attentissimi Inglesi.

L'hymne et l'âme de l'Ecosse : avec un titre qui évoque les paysages écossais, c'est en réalité un air qui exalte la résistance d'un peuple a l'envahisseur, avec une très belle mélodie. L'enregistrement d'accompagnement est très bon

Me parece una pieza musical sencilla pero emotiva y contagiosa. En cuanto a la letra, narra hechos del pasado, es audaz y añora la independencia de Escocia.

Tutti gli inni nazionali sono belli da sentire ma questo è particolare,un inno pacato e orecchiabile che suiscita emozioni cadenzato a suono di cornamusa che può essere dedicato ai patrioti non solo scozzesi ma del mondo intero che lottarono e morirono per il loro paese contro la tirannia e l'oppressione dovrebbe chiamarsi FLOWER OF WORD.......fiori del momdo

Very nice solo piece for voice or any Bb instrument. We would really like a full brass band score. With the Corries version counting is too difficult for intermediate players with all it's changes from12/8, 6/8, 9/8 etc. though when mastered it is really beautiful. Well done Robert the Bruce at Bannockburn in 1314, that spider changed Scottish history!

Magnifique pièce écrite vers 1967 et interpretée par "The Corries". Voir leur site. Roy décédé il y a quelques années (1990) n'imaginait pas au début que son oeuvre prendrait totalement le pas sur l'Hymne officiel de l'Ecosse. Ronnie Brown membre survivant du goupe, a interpreté lui même F. of S. en ouverture d'un match de Rugby. (Voir YT.) Emouvant ! L'écosse ne gagne pas toujours mais le Rugby et la fraternité entre les nations y ont gagné. Comme aurait dit Roger Couderc.
